UNDERSTANDING THE FINANCIAL MAZE

Is Your EI about to finish?

CERB program has been made more inclusive. Previously, even if you earned a little, it did not allow to apply for the $2000 CERB benefit. It has now been updated to also include people earning $1000 a month.

As per the new updated CERB rules, even those whose EI benefits ended since the beginning of fiscal year 2020 may qualify for CERB.

WHAT IF YOU ARE ALREADY RECEIVING EI?

What if your EI did not end, but, is still in effect and paying you a benefit, and it is about to end soon? The question that people have been asking is-in such a scenario, they will still be without a fair opportunity to go out and look for work. So, what will hapen to them in such a scenario.

Canadians, who are already receiving EI and regular and sickness benefits, they would continue to receive their benefits in normal course and should not re-apply via CERB portal.

If their benefits end before October 03, 2020, they could then apply for CERB, once their EI benefits cease, and they are unable to return to work due to COVID-19.

The government has established a dedicated line for CERB applications:1-800-959-2019
